Newly promoted to the NSSF Volleyball League Serie A, Sky showed a glimpse of what they will bring to the table.
Sky defeated Serie A side KAVC 3-1 to win the UCU Open men’s title in a game played on floodlights. Led by Emmanuel kato, Niocholas Dheyongera and setter John Bosco Opendi, Sky rallied to a two set lead 25-23, 25-19.
But KAVC who kept on switching setter Amon Ainebyona and Allan Ssemanda, which yielded a set as they took the third 25-15.
Both teams struggled to cope up with the dim UCU floodlight in the third, as they struggled to receive attack and block. Sky almost go a shock when leading 24-12, KAVC fought back to force deuce and almost forced a tiebreaker.
But a more composed Sky eventually won the game 25-27 The title was Sky’s second after winning the NSSF-KAVC international in the same tournament the defeated the latter in the semis. It’s also the third in the club’s history after the KIU Open they did win last year.
