Togo Vs Uganda – Lome

Following his side’s 1-0 against Cranes on Saturday, Togo coach Tchanile Tchakala says they now eye a double over Uganda.

The two nations face off in the return match on Wednesday October 15 in a game that will go a long way in determining who qualifies for the finals from group E.

“Our aim is now to win the game on Wednesday,” Tchanile told Kawowo Sports. “It’s a good result we have had here but that will count for less if we fail to repeat the feat in Lome,” he added.

Asked on how it felt breaking Uganda’s 10 year unbeaten home record, the Togo boss said, “Sad for them but we had no option. We wanted this game so badly to turn our fortunes and credit to my boys, we did it.

“Our game plan worked though I must admit we didn’t perform so well. The most important thing is that we got the result.”

On his side’s chances after victory, Tchanile revealed he was relieved they still stand a chance to reach the finals and believes they will take it with both hands.

A win for Togo against Cranes in Lome will see them go on six points and at worst in second on the log depending on the results from Ghana-Guinea game.
