Written off by many, NSSF Volleyball League women defending champions put up a commanding performance in their first game of the playoffs.
Ndejje defeated three time champions Nkumba University 3-0 (25-21, 25-21 and 25-18).
Nkumba University failed to stop Ndejje’s attacks on the net as Nnungi Saidat went on rampage to pin her quick attacks on Nkumba’s court.
“We failed to do the simple things and paid the price,” said Nkumba’s coach Tonny Lakony. “We have comfortable leads on several occasion and refused to concentrate when it mattered most,” he added.
Nkumba struggled to fight back with Astreede Agaaba and Eunice Amuron but were frustrated by Ndejje’s good net defense.
“It is a win without a doubt boosts our confidence,” Ndejje’s coach Johnson Kawenyera said. “Am not saying it’s over but we are going to give our whole to make the job in the next game, the league is the only title we have left and we don’t want to finish the season trophy-less,” he added.
Ndejje are eyeing their third straight league title, while Nkumba want to play in the final for the first time since 2011.
