Flamboyant junior welterweight Sharif “The Lion” Bogere, was too good for his Mexican opponent Fernando Garcia as he knocked him out in the fifth round of a 10 rounder at the Memorial Hall in Plymouth, Massachusetts on Thursday night.
The Ugandan prize fighter dropped Garcia in the second round as he dominated his Central American opponent with speed, power, total velocity and finally taking him out with a solid right hook in the fifth round to end the fight at 2 minutes and 30 seconds. It was the 26 year old’s 26th career win and 18th knockout.
Bogere is now 3 out of 3 in the year and his promoters Golden Boy Promotions will see this fight as a significant point for them to push him for a world title shot early in the New Year.
Final punch stats had Bogere landing 195 of 498 (39%) compared to just 39 of 157 (25%) for Garcia.
Bogere is now (26-1, 18 KOs) while Garcia is (28-4-2, 18 KOs). Bogere over the 27 rounds boxed in his professional career he has a 105 Knockout percentage.
