New kid on the block Moses Matsiko registered a debut win together with national golfer Abbey Bagalana as they won the one day Regal Paints Golf Corporation tournament at the par 72 Kitante course at the Uganda Golf Club on Friday.
The two players returned with the best scores of 66 nett to claim the overall crown over the 18 holes in the four ball, better ball format. “I feels good to win my first tournament here and hope to win many more to come,” a delighted Matsiko said. “I played with an experienced player that is Bagalana who we have been playing together on the course.”
Matsiko and Bagalana will travel to Muthaiga Country Club this month and play with several amateurs from Kigali, Arusha and Nairobi in this golf tour that has been held for four years and sponsored by Regal Paints.
Rose Azuba and Monica Ntege with 69 nett where runners-up while the third runner-ups where Steven Katwiremu and Becca Mwanja with 70 nett on count back.
Vincent Asiimwe was winner for the first nine holes with 33 nett while Sally Hunt was winner of the second nine holes with 33 nett. Last year the winners travelled to South Africa.
