Entebbe Club, the oldest club in East Africa has had a very busy year and they will not sit down and rest on the numerous laurels they have achieved in a highly successful golfing season this week they host the 70 million Castle Lite Entebbe Open which has attracted national teams of Kenya, Rwanda and Burundi.

“This is going to be the first ever “Katogo” of events to be held in Uganda with a 5 in one event being hosted on the course over a period of three days,” the chairman of Entebbe Club Innocent Kihika stated in an e-mail. “The number of players expected are 60 for the main event that is handicap 6 and below.”

Number of players expected are 60 for the main event that is handicap 6 and below. Players have been registered from Kilembe, Tooro, Mbarara, Palm Valley, Entebbe, Jinja and Lugazi. ( 18 holes Thursday, 36 holes Friday and 18 holes Saturday).

150 players are expected for the subsidiary from all the clubs in the country including Kitale and Eldoret Clubs from western Kenya that have confirmed attendance for the subsidiary event ( 18 holes Saturday) 19 pros are expected to tussle it out for a difficult 36 holes in one day (Friday) for the pro category.

The national teams jet in on Wednesday for a practice round and start off playing at the same time as the main event players on Thursday with 18 holes being played on day 1, 36 on day 2 and 18 on the final day.

Team composition is as follows Uganda’s team will be captained by Uganda Open runner-up Adolf Muhumuza from Tooro Club.
