Out of the hundreds of the golfing family in Uganda, not so many of them are of the feminine gender.

One has to have courageous atoms embedded in his/her blood to take on the golfing sport.

For Fort Portal’s promising female golfer, Hafswa Namusoke, golf is just more than a sport to her.

“I do not look at golf as a sport to simply and enjoy. But rather I take it as my future profession, one from which I can earn a living and sustain myself and family”, the handicap 28 golfer reveals.

Namusoke was the best young female golfer at the recently concluded Uganda ladies’ open held at Uganda Golf Club, Kitante.

The tourney was won by female golfing ace, Flavia Namakula, who overcame the region’s finest golfers in the mould of Tanzania’s undisputed duo of Iddi Madina and Angel Eaton.

Namusoke’s role model:

Incidentally, Namakula, Uganda’s number one female golfer at the moment is Namusoke’s biggest inspiration to the sport predominately played by men.

“I love the way Flavia (Namakula) conducts herself both on and off the course. She is my role model and I want to play and achieve like her” Namusoke adds.

Namusoke the Multi-talented :
Namusoke is a courageous young teenager. At her tender age, she has played Tag rugby, women’s football and golf.

She is also a poet, radio presenter and a song composer.

“I thank Allah for helping me do all these things to perfection. Special credit to everyone who has seen me through every thick and thin. Mrs Esther Okullo, V.O.T radio, Fortportal s.s.s” Namusoke, who presents the ‘Youth Alive Programme on Voice of Toro F.M adds.

At the moment, the lanky teenager, Namusoke dreams of three things; being a top model, Lawyer and a successful female golf professional.

“Everything comes with working hard and I believe I will achieve all my dreams in Allah’s name” the staunch Muslim signs off.
