Three Senegalese referees have been confirmed by Confederation of African Football Associations (CAF) to handle the crucial AFCON 2015 qualifier between Guinea and Uganda this Wednesday.
Malang Diedhiou will be the official in the center. Fellow countrymen, Djibriil Camara and El Hadji Samba are the first and second assistant referees respectively.
Malang, 41, has handled 20 major career competitions. He has officiated at 3 CAF Champions league engagements, 2 world cup qualification matches and he was at the 2014 CHAN finals in South Africa. This will be his second CAF 2015 qualification match this year.
Malang worked at Senegal Airforce and Senegal AIR ( Private Airline company). In the 20 matches Malang has officiated so far, he has dished out 51 cautions (34 of these in the local Senegalese domestic league – Ligue 1 Poule B) with 2 red cards.
The Uganda – Guinea first leg fixture in Kampala was handled by the Ethiopian trio of Bamlak Tessema Weyesa,Hassan Egueh Yacin and Kindie Mussie. Uganda overcame Guinea 2 -0 at the Nelson Mandela stadium in Kampala.
Meanwhile, two Gambians will handle the Ghana Versus Togo clash in Tamale.
Bakary Papa Gassama will handle the central refereeing duties while Evarist Menkouande (Cameroon) and Sulayman Sosseh, another Gambian will be the first and second assistant referees respectively.
Each of the 4 countries in Group E has a realistic chance of qualification for next year’s AFCON finals that will be held in Equatorial Guinea.
