Another campaign, same story. Heart breaking is the word. The Cranes suffered a 2-0 loss at the hands of Guinea in Morocco to miss out on next year’s finals of Africa Nations Cup.

Ibrahim Traore and Souma Seydouba netted a goal apiece to send Guinea through at the expense of Uganda who needed a draw to advance.

Kawowo Sports’ Ismael Kiyonga followed proceedings in Morocco and rates each Ugandan player.

The ratings which are out of ten are based on statistics.

Denis Onyango 7.0: Stood tall to keep the scoreline respectable when the Guineans were endlessly launching attacks on Cranes goal. Made crucial saves and at times played the sweeper’s role after Mwesigwa was sent off.

Isaac Isinde 6.0: Against all odds, he kept the deadly Seydouba Souma silent for most parts of the game. Switched to centre back after Mwesigwa’s red card but damage was already done.

Godfrey Walusimbi 5.0: Started the game on a slow note being turned in and out by man of the match Ibrahima Traore. Lucky not to be booked after a number of fouls but grew in stature in the second half though his side was more of an avenue for the Syli Nationale.

Savio Kabugo 6.0: Looked the more accomplished of the two centre backs though he gave away possession on a number of occasions. Matched the big Idrissa Sylla but at the end of the day, he was overpowered.

Andrew Mwesigwa 2.0: Lucky to escape RED against Ghana but not this time round. The skipper gave away two silly fouls which resulted into two goals. He deserves nothing but for the shirt, he gets a two.

Geoffrey ‘Baba’ Kizito 5.0: Struggled against the quick passing Guineans and provided less cover to the backline.

Tonny Mawejje 6.0: Started well fighting for each ball but later faded as Guinea asserted dominance. Finished the game at right back after Mwesigwa’s send off.

Luwagga Kizito 5.0: Failed to impose himself as the big Florentin Pogba overpowered him. There is nothing of note to remember about him on the day besides losing possession easily.

Farouk Miya 4.0: Another silent outing for the Vipers SC midfielder. It’s difficult to trace the number of touches he had on the ball. A pedestrian on the day.

Brian Majwega 6.0: The attacking winger started in his preferred role and looked the only player in the Cranes jersey who seemed to have a magical touch. Whipped in a few crosses and tried to take the ball to the opposition but provided less defensively.

Geoffrey Massa 5.0: Cut a frustrated figure in the first half and wasted Uganda’s best opportunity to score at least a consolation goal. His jinx for an away qualification goal still remains.

Daniel Sserunkuma 6.0: Came on for Farouk Miya and gave Uganda some momentum in attack but it was too little too late. He is the only player who registered a shot on target for Cranes.

Mike Sserumaga 5.0: Could do nothing to change the score line as he came on with Cranes 2-0 down and a man less.

Robert Ssentongo 5.0: Fought for every ball but there was little supply to trouble the organised Syli Nationale backline.
