This will be the second annual Rotary on the Green tournament that started last year to raise funds for the club’s projects. “The Club’s decision to build a modern hospital was driven by the need to contribute to the provision of quality health services in the district and enhance the well-being and quality of life of the people of Mukono,” David Kasingwire, the President of the Rotary Club of Kampala said recently.
The project, the first of its kind in Uganda, envisages a fully-fledged hospital with an Outpatients’ department, Adminstration block and private clinic, special clinics block, an operating theatre, female, male and children’s wards.
According to the Club the first phase is expected to cost 600 million. The Rotary on the Green Golf Tournament is expected to raise at least 24 million to go towards the construction work. Thus far, contributions from Rotarians alone total 200 million, and the club is seeking partnerships to cover the 400 million funding gap.
