Golfers in the country will all be eyeing this Saturday’s Barclays Bank Golf Challenge at the par 71 Entebbe Club with the winners receiving an all expense paid trip to play in the Barclays Kenya Open which is a Pro-Am event.
Last year Uganda had five players featuring in the Pro-Am event at the Karen Country Club in Nairobi, the players included Kenneth Kaheru, from Jinja, Henry Lujja from Entebbe, Phillip Kasozi, Flavia Namakula and Joseph Mawejje from the Uganda golf club.
Others included Deo Akope and Dennis Anguyo, who played in the professional tournament which is a European Challenger Tour tournament on the Euro Golf Tour. Both Akope and Anguyo failed to make the cut last year in a tournament that was won by South African Jake Roos.
Barclays Bank will also be holding a similar tournament like this at the Gymkhana Golf Club in Arusha, Tanzania with the winners there booking a ticket for the Pro-Am tournament in Nairobi, Kenya in early March.
