FUFA President Eng Moses Magogo went on record and confessed that it will be hard for Uganda to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations if our presence in CAF is not felt. Magogo was facing the media for the first time seven days since Uganda failed to secure a draw off Guinea in a game the Cranes lost 2-0 in Morocco.
For you to qualify you need presence in CAF, that one I must tell you, you need a presence up there and Uganda doesn’t have anybody high up. There certain simple basics that you need but the highest CAF official we have is a member of a committee. Uganda has Charles Masembe on the CAF referee’s committee but also Dr James Sekajugo who is a member of the Medical committee.
Former FUFA president Lawrence Mulindwa is also a member of the committee.
You can see how we lost the U17 case to Zambia and how Ghana have lost the case under the same circumstances against Cameroon. This is Africa and certain things are done African.
Uganda haven’t qualified for the Africa cup of nations since 1978 and the latest failure was the 19th straight time that the 13 time CECAFA winners were faltering at the continental stage.
