The 6th Edition of the annual Kakira Golf Open has teed off with the gross players off the tee box first on the 9 hole golf course, situated off the banks of Africa’s longest River – The Nile, in Jinja Town.
20 amateur golfers led by the home crew of Grace Kasango, winner of the Onito Memorial on the same course are gearing up for the top prize.
The towering Kasango is playing in group 2 alongside the 15 year old Entebbe golfer, Herman ‘Deco’ Mutebi and Toro Club’s Denis Otim.
The gross and professional players will play 36 holes only for Friday before the main event on Saturday
Joseph Nkuruzinza, the Jinja Club Captain told Kawowo Sports.
Others in action are on form Ronald Otile, winner of the Mukwano Open in Fort Portal last week, who also won the 2014 Eskom Open at Jinja.
The spot light will not exclude the reigning Kakira Open and Uganda Open Champion, Willy Deus Kitata who is pooled in group 3 alongside Lugazi’s Ronald ‘Ronnie King’ Bukenya and Daniel Baguma.
Two time Uganda Open champion, Peter Ssendaula is playing in group 4 with Ronald Otile and Joel Basalaine.
Ismail Mohamood, Joram Blick and Uganda Open runners up, Adolf Muhumuza are in group 5.

Kakira Sugar Company Limited has sunk a whopping U.shs 50 M to help in the organization and logistical facilitation of the tourney.
