A combination of factors; composure, local course knowledge, character and sheer lady luck all smiled on one person – Grace Kasango as the gross category of the 2014 Kakira Golf Open climaxed at the Par 72 Jinja Golf Course.

Home nurtured talent, Kasango fired 149 total gross to beat 19 other players to the overall title of the 6th edition of the Uganda Golf Union sanctioned event.

Today, everything I touched turned to gold. From the swing on the Tee, Approach and the Putt, all seemed to have been heaven sent

A smiling 6 feet plus Kasango, who also won the 2014 Onito Memorial Open on the same course added.

The handicap 3 golfer fired 149 gross over 36 holes, 3 and 4 strokes clear of the catching pack of Toro Club’s Ronald Otile and Lugazi’s Ronald ‘Ronnie King’ Bukenya respectively.

“I came prepared for this victory. When a took a 1 stroke lead after the first 9, I realized I would make it and today my putting was great” he revealed the winning strategy.

Last year’s defending champion, Willy Deus Kitata will leave to forget this year’s edition as he never ever surfaced even among the top 10.
