Senegal and Besiktas striker Demba Ba has been left out of Senegal’s National football preliminary squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.
The former West Ham, Newcastle United and Chelsea man has made 19 appearances for the super lig side, scoring 16 goals.
And despite the form, Ba will now give in to former Newcastle team-mate Papiss Cisse, who will provide Senegal’s main goal threat.
Demba Ba was excluded from the party for their final qualifiers against Egypt and Botswana last month and at the time, Giresse claimed the player was injured, which was publicly refuted by the 29-year-old.
Newcastle United’s Papis Cisse will pair up with Mame Biram Diouf of Stoke City, Sadio Mane of Southampton and Diafra Sakho of West Ham among others.
Senegal will face Ghana, Algeria and South Africa in Group C, as the side seeks opportunity in the knockout stages.
