Former World and Olympic steeple chase champion Dorcus Inzikuru has joined the Uganda Police Force as a police officer joining Benjamin Njia and 28 other runners.

The three – time Uganda Sports Press Personality of the year and arguably the most successful female athlete Uganda has produced, will work under Benjamin Njia who is now the coach of the National athletics team.

According to Daily Monitor, Njia has been at Makerere University and was the captain of Uganda’s World University Cross Country team early this year. He joined the force as a cadet officer and will work with Inzikuru who will be in charge of women affairs in the police sports department.

Inzikuru’s recruitment comes after last years athletics sex scandal that marred the Africa Cross Country Championships, when the coach then, Peter Wemali was found to have been luring female runners into sex with him, arguing that he would make them better on track and field.

Andrew Sorowen, the director of special duties says after the scandal they felt that they needed to have a female coach to look after the athletes. And one of the most experienced was Inzikuru.
