South Africa Captain Dean Furman has argued that the Bafana Bafana will prove all critics wrong when the side take on Asamoah Gyan’s Ghana on Tuesday.

South Africa will be closing their Group C matches in the tournament with the must – win and according to the Doncaster Rovers
midfielder, Ghana should expect a surprise.

We’ve been proving people wrong since the start of this group. No-one expected us to go and win games away in Africa, everybody expected Nigeria to cruise through our qualification group – they struggled, they went out – we went and won games away. So we know as a team that we can cause upsets and prove people wrong, and this tournament has shown that the tournament’s open for anyone.

South Africa led their qualification group for the continental showpiece, eliminating defending champions Nigeria, thanks to their unbeaten run.

Mashaba’s men sit bottom of Group C with just one point while Senegal lead Group C with four points, Algeria and Ghana, who are second and third, both have three points.
