The common adage ‘no super market shops confidence’ is well chorused by every member of the Madagascar based Elgeco Plus Football Club squads man.

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport on Wednesday early morning hours, Elgeco Plus players and officials beamed with confidence.

We are not tourists, we are here to play football and win comfortably ahead of the return leg in Antanarrivo

The French speaking team head coach, Raux Auguste told Kawowo Sports.

The team touched ground at the Entebbe Airport run way exactly 10 minutes after midnight from Kenyan Airways carrier on flight  KQ 416 and was received by several URA officials and FUFA officials.

Adhering to the new CAF regulations, each of the visiting team seeks for their own accommodation.

Elegco booked themselves at Pope Paul Hotel in Rubaga and according to the URA secretary, Henry Mayeku, who was at the airport to receive the team; they have given them the best welcome ever.

We waited for the team and provided the transport, security and they will train at our own Gayaza ground on Wednesday evening before they practice at Namboole on match eve.

Mayeku told Kawowo Sports

Meanwhile, the match referees for the two teams from Djibouti also used the same flight as the Elgeco Plus players but it took two hours for the Airport security to clear them.

One of the names on the officials’ passports could not correspond to those that were in the system, so the Airport Security got concerned but they were eventually cleared.

Joseph Mwanje, who represented FUFA at the airport clarified.

David Isabirye is a senior staff writer for Kawowo Sports where he covers most of the major events.
