The Federation of Motorsport Uganda extended the tenure of office bearers from two to four years with effect from the next election.
This was among the constitutional amendments passed on 7th of February during the annual general assembly at the MTN Arena, Lugogo.
The tenure extension had been proposed in 2013 but failed to be passed in the previous AGMs.
FMU general secretary Reynolds Kibira revealed why it had to be passed this year.
We were advised by both the national council and FIA to synchronize since all the associations affiliated to FIA do four years. So it was the need to synchronise the federation to the international affiliation and also to comply with the NCS regulations,
The decision was also taken after realising that little can be done by the leaders to achieve their targets in the two years.
OTHER AMENDMENTS FROM THE AGM.
The youth, media and women commissions were passed to check the welfare and development among the youth and women respectively.
FMU has also increased its annual budget from Ushs 200millions to Ushs 500millions.
