2015 Uganda Cup:

Selected Results (Round of 32):

Steel F.C 0-11 The Saints F.C

Masavu F.C 3-0 Jinja Municipal Council F.C

Creamland 1-2 Lweza F.C

Kakiri T.C 0-1 Bright Stars

Rwenzori group FUFA Big league outfit, The Saints Football Club have progressed to the 2015 Uganda Cup round of 32 on a high note.

The Namboole based club walloped Masindi based Steel F.C 11-0, coming short by a goal of the highest number of goals scored in the Uganda Cup (URA holds the record after beating Hope Soana 12-0 last year).

Fred Kyambadde single handledly inflicted the damage with 6 goals onto a disorganized Steel F.C side that struggled to raise the numbers minutes to kick off of the fixture held at Masindi stadium.

Kyambadde’s goals equal the record number of goals scored by a single individual in a Uganda Cup fixture (URA’s Fen Ali also scored 6 last year against Hope Soana).

The Saints now book a date against Kyambogo Football Club at Nelson Mandela Stadium, Namboole on the 8th March 2015.

Kyambogo caused one of the major upsets of the 2015 edition, eliminating Vipers Sports Club in a nail biting 8-9 penalty triumph that followed a barren draw in the 90 minutes.

In the other games, Livingstone Mbabazi’s Masavu F.C, a Buganda regional side shocked FUFA Big league club, Jinja Municipal Council at the sandy Katabi Gombolola grounds.

Former Vipers and Entebbe F.C left winger Charles Odeke, Lawrence Bakiranze (formerly of Express and Baza Holdings) and Nkumba University striker cum right back, Allan Zirimenya scored the goals for Masavu F.C.

In Kabale, at the Municipal stadium, Veteran striker Geofrey Sserunkuma’s late penalty saved Lweza F.C from the jaws of an eminent defeat at the hands of FUFA Big league side, Cream land.

Lweza had taken a first half lead through striker, Fred Kalanzi before the home side made amends and the match had looked destined for post match penalties.

Denis Mugisha was the hero for City Lads over Hope Doves at the Lugogo Stadium in Kampala.

Other results on the day saw Kireka United overcome Synergy F.C, Ndejje University won 1-0 away at Kataka in Mbale Municipal Stadium.

Bright Stars’ Kawadwa scored the lone goal of the day as the Kawempe based outfit triumphed in a narrow 1-0 victory over home side, Kakiri Town Council at the Kakiri SOS play grounds.

Rwenzori Big league side, Baza Holdings qualified to the last 32 at the expense of Buganda Region outfit Kira United following a 5-3 post match penalties victory that came after a 2 all draw in normal time

The round of 32 will be played on 8th March 2015.

Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) F.C is the tourney’s defending champion of the event that started in 1971.
