Morocco has appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) contesting their suspension by Confederation of African Football from the next two Africa Cup of Nations tournaments.

Morocco were banned after refusing to host the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations due to fears of an Ebola outbreak, Equatorial Guinea eventually hosting the tournament that Ivory Coast won.

Royal Morocco Football Federation (RFMF) were fined 1$ million also slapping another of 8 million euros ($9.1) for damages to CAF and it’s partners.

“In its (Morocco’s) appeal to the CAS, the FRMF requests the annulment of the challenged decisions and that a final award be issued by the end of March 2015,” Court of Arbitration said in a statement.

“An arbitration procedure has been opened and is being conducted according to the code of Sports.”
