In the aftermath of a 3-0 loss to El Merriekh in the CAF Champions League, Azam FC has sacked Cameroonian Coach John Omog and one of his assistants Ibrahim Shikanda.

This was revealed in a statement of the club’s official Facebook page in Swahili

Translated as;

“Azam FC leadership announces that they have officially parted ways with Head coach Joseph Omog after being with him for 14 months.

Omog who led Azam FC first championship last season has gone along with one of his assistants Ibrahim Shikanda” read part of the statement before adding;

“The team will for now be handled by George ‘Best’ Nsimbe.”

The officials at the club were not happy at the way they were eliminated by Sudan’s El Merriekh FC 3-2 on aggregate after taking a 2-0 goal advantage in the first leg.

Nsimbe joined the Bakhresa family owned club in December 2014 as an assistant to the Cameroonian and now joins Matia Lule (Stand United) and Jackson Mayanja (Kagera Sugar) as other Ugandan head coaches in the Tanzania Vodacom Premier League.
