Kampala City Council’s former Vice Chairman, Allan ‘Bwino’ Ssewanyana has categorically come out to clear the air surrounding the circumstances that led to his imminent resignation from the club’s governing committee.
I am happy to have served on the KCC committee and glad to have been part of the club’s leadership wing for the last 3 successful seasons on the domestic sphere. Now, I painfully pave way after a few things have gone contrary to my expectations
The politician cum sports journalist opens up.
Ssewanyana cites intrigue, malice, selfishness, the suspect performance of the board and the failure to convene meetings contrary to the constitution as the major hints that forced him out.
Sincerely, it is difficult work in an environment where you are marginalized. First, we have been an interim committee since 2nd August 2012. For the good of my image in the community and KCC as the club, I had to step aside so that the house is put into order
The L.C 5 Makindye West Councillor adds.
Ssewanyana announced his resignation from the KCC committee on Monday, just hours after the team returned from Cameroon where they bowed out of the CAF Champions’ league to Cosmos De Bafia 3-1 on aggregate.
He is quick to label several reports as ‘baseless and biased’ that link his resignation to greed for money and being self centered.
Some people are just mud-slinging me because I always point out the truth and i will continue to stick to the pillars of the nothing but the ultimate truth
The vocal Ssewanyana adds of reports that he was denied $ 3000 per diem as a travel token allowance to Cameroon.
Ssewanyana was supposed to have traveled with the rest of the officials but he opted out at the 11th hour citing a busy schedule where he had to attend to an event within his constituency.
Like any other official, i am bound to my facilitation in form of allowances. But the allowance issue is not the gist of my resignation. In fact on the day of the match, i was attending to Honorable Hussein Kyanjo’s function and being my mentor (Kyanjo), there was no way i would skip the event.
On reports linking him to scandalous sale of players and being being lured by SC Villa money mogul, Ben Misagga, Ssewanyana rubbishes the talk as ‘cheap talk’.
I left KCC simply because of intrigue, back stabbing and failure to conduct regular meetings contrary to the laws, not that anybody is interested in me
He adds.
Ssewanyana joins the ever growing list of KCC strongmen to resign from the team’s working committee.
The youthful vocal politician cum sports journalist joins the bandwagon of Aldrine Nsubuga, Badru Kiggwe, Ahmed Kabuye and lately, Hamid Juma who resigned early February 2015.
Kawowo Sports will keep you abreast of the latest developments within the spheres of the 7 time league winners’ politician wing headed by KCC Executive director, Jenifer Semakula Musisi.
