The Africa Rally Champion, Gary Chaynes starts the defence of the FIA Africa rally championship this Friday in the Yamoussoukro city in Ivory Coast.

Gary Chaynes, who is also the 2014 Ivory Coast Rally champion told Kawowo Sports that he is optimistic he will start the year in fifth gear.

We have prepared the rally with a maximum of renovations on the car, I hope to win for the second consecutive home Bandama,

With only two ARC drivers participating this weekend, Chaynes will be out to battle his fellow countryman Morifere Soumaouro.

Chaynes won his first ARC crown after amassing 119 points in seven rounds of the championship. He however hopes to defend his title in the rest of the ARC rounds if finances permit

I hope to find the budget to be able to defend my title during the ARC.

He will be cruising with a new navigator, David Israel

This year’s opening round will have a 4.60KM power stage this afternoon in Yamoussaoukro city. Later drivers will go through a total distance of 430.79km on Saturday and Sunday.
