Exactly 144 days to the 14th edition of the Netball World Cup, the She Cranes are yet to restart training since the end of January.

Training stopped when five players were summoned to the provisional national handball team last month ahead of the All Africa Games qualifiers that start in Ethiopia this weekend.

Halima Nakacwa, Lilian Ajio and Jessica Achan made the cut while Inid Abala and Florence Nannyonga were dropped.

After that, the management decided that the rest of the contingent go train with their clubs ahead of the East African Clubs Championship that commenced on Saturday in Zanzibar.

Whether this will affect the team’s reparations or not, head coach Fred Mugerwa remains positive.

“No it will not,” he told kawowo sports. “The players have been training with their respective clubs and we are talking of aggressive training because we have a regional competition coming up.”

National Insurance Corporation (defending champions), Police and KCCA are taking part in the regional meet.

According to the Annet Rwakabale, the competitions secretary at National Netball Federation, April 1 is the tentative date set for the team to resume training.
