The game legends finally made their point at Season 5 of the Friday Night Lights basketball with impressive clarity. They showed the tournament’s defending champs, Team Ikong exit doors last Friday and making the last four for the first time.
It was a climactic beginning to a night that had exciting exits that included another former champion, Team Malinga giving way to heavy tournament favourites and unbeaten Team Amoding whose captain scored more than half of her team’s points.
Meanwhile, Team Blick beat Team Lamunu 55-42 to make the last four and was joined by Team Koma who edged Team Sudi 56-52.
All is now set for the semifinals and the championship game at the Season 5 Grand Finale this Friday at YMCA. The semi final line up will have Team Legends up against Team Blick while Team Amoding will face Team Koma.
Last season’s losing finalists, Team Blick will get the evening started against Team Legends. Team Blick played for glory last year against Team Ikong and will have do that again only if they get past the Legends who may be bouyed up by last Friday’s victory.
Team Amoding who have been invincible this season will face Team Koma who started slowly but got into their groove and are capable of doing just anything.
At this stage, Friday Night Lights basketball is a fun event only for the fans – not anymore for the teams and players. It is real competition!
Journalists will play against a FUBA Select side as finalists take a break before they return to the floor for the final show down of the season – the money game.
