Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) President, William Blick has urged local sports federations to adapt the idea of educating coaches as a lee way of further developing the respective sporting disciplines.
Blick made the remarks as he was officiating at the closure of the Rowing Level 1 Coaching course at the Uganda Olympic Committee head offices at Lugogo.
UOC is going to take this as a pilot project and encourage other local federations to follow this idea
Blick officially handed over certificates to the 12 successful Level 1 Coaches.
FISA certified Rowing coach, Rodrick Muhumuza is the chief brain behind the course, that any Rowing coach willing to undertake international levels must undertake.
It was a project I developed with my tutors at the University of Delaware and US Olympic Committee last year.We had 2 theoretical sessions and 2 practical sessions in between individual learner practices

In total 12 candidates passed and 3 are still being assessed and observed.
Muhumza is expected to travel to Lausanne Switzerland on 20th April from where he will present a report to a panel of judges at the International Olympic Committee – a prerequisite before graduation.
The Course was exclusively sponsored by Olympic solidarity programme, United States Olympic Committee and the University of Delaware as the main implementers.
Muhumuza further explains about the mission of the programme;
To provide national level coaches and those responsible for the development of the sport national coaching structures in their countries with a practical program oriented towards developing proficiency in the areas of sport sciences, talent identification, athlete development, coaching education, coaching management, grass root sports development and ethical aspect of coaching at all levels of competition multi sport.
