Former Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) Spokesperson Rogers Mulindwa has finally reacted to reports of Moses Magogo’s decision to withdraw him from the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

This follows and confirms reports that the FUFA president wrote to CAF a few weeks ago asking for the withdraw of Mulindwa from the CAF Media Committee for which he has served for the past three years.

In his reaction via his official Facebook page, Mulindwa clarified that as FUFA president, Magogo has the right to do so and thus made no offence. His statement in parts read as follows:

I have for the last three weeks been receiving calls of sympathy/concerns from friends and individuals over my removal from CAF by the FUFA President Moses Magogo,

The FUFA President [Magogo] has the mandate to call back individuals from CAF and recommend others to CAF Executive committee for inclusion on committees. He did not therefore commit any offence,

Mulindwa was recommended to CAF by the former FUFA boss Lawrence Mulindwa who also recommended current boss Magogo and Justus Mugisha for FIFA instructors training as Mulindwa clarifies.

During our regime headed by then FUFA President Mr. Lawrence Mulindwa, I got into CAF and served for nearly three years. As Lawrence (Mulindwa) sent me to CAF, he also recommended Magogo and Mr. Justus Mugisha for training as FIFA instructors [Administration]. He believed so much in capacity building.

Mulindwa further revealed that Magogo also wants him be withdrawn from CECAFA where he heads the department of communication but didn’t hesitate to thank ex-FA president for what he termed as support to his career.

I am told the President’s ‘AXE’ is now trailing me in CECAFA and I won’t resist any changes.
I wish to thank my former President Mr. Lawrence Mulindwa for supporting my career and I pledge my continued support towards the game of football within my country and beyond. To CAF President Dr. Issa Hayatou and the entire executive committee – thank you so much!
