URA FC 1-1 SC Villa
Goals from substitutes Frank Kalanda and Denis Kamanzi ensured the highly anticipated clash between giants URA and SC Villa ended in a stalemate at Mehta Grounds, Lugazi.
The two sides kicked off well with each pressing for an early goal but it took 23 minutes to register a shot on target when Yasser Mugerwa from over 35 yards tested SC Villa goalie Nicholas Sebwato.
Two minutes later, Ronald Kigongo also had a shot saved by Sebwato and URA could have been punished a minute later but Steven Bengo sot wide when played through Erisha Ssekisambu.
Midway the first half, Coach Alex Isabirye was forced to withdraw Kigongo for the enterprising James Kasibante but there was no change to the score line.
Two minutes after the break, Patrick Ochan headed wide from close range with the goal at his mercy after a well weighed Simeon Masaba cross.
In the 50th minute, the most glorious opportunity of the game fell to Augustine Nsumba but he shot over the bar after a brilliant Steven Bengo cut back down the left the flank.
Coach Ibrahim Kirya made his first change of the game with Denis Kamanzi coming on for Bengo and he nearly made it 1-0 for the visitors but Brian Bwete was alert to save in the 58th minute.
Four minutes later, Frank Kalanda who had come on for Patrick Ochan put URA in the lead with a well taken back heel after a howler from Nicholas Sebwato.
The tax collectors had a genuine penalty shootout turned down when Hassan Wasswa appeared to have handled a ball in the area but referee Frank Jjingo waved play on. This prompted Kirya to make another substitution by bringing on Moses Gaale for Ronald Muganga and later Samson Jakech.
With 10 minutes left on the clock, SC Villa won a free kick down the right and Isaac Muleme whipped in a cross which Bwete failed to tame and Kamanzi gifted from the scuffle by putting the ball into the net.
Despite either side pressing for a winner, there was no change to the score line as SC Villa registered a 3rd consecutive draw under interim Coach Ibrahim Kirya.
The record league champions stay 2nd on the log with 43 points; six behind log leaders Vipers who have played a game more while URA stay 4th with 35 points.
