Copa Coca Cola Football Championships:
Kick-off: 27th April 2015 – Hoima District
Uganda national post primary schools football tournament, the Copa Coca Cola championships of the year 2015 were launched on Friday at Coca cola main plant in Namanve, Kampala.
Commissioner from the Ministry of Education and sports Omara Apita flanked by the Coca Cola country manager, Robert Davies and other officials from the company witnessed the launch the media.
Speaker after speaker lauded the tournament that has helped to identify football talents from the grass roots.
Schools were urged to stick to the rules and regulations of the tournament and warned against use of non-students.
We shall exercise the fair play rule. Use bona-fide students. We are to include sanctions of head teachers endorsing no-students to play in Copa Coca Cola
Omara Apita remarked.
The tournament kicks off on Monday 27th April but all schools will arrive in Hoima on 25th April 2015.
The screening of players will take place on the 26th April 2015.
Kennedy Mutenyo the Coca Cola brand manager said that this year players of over 20years of age will not be allowed in the tournament as they look forward to develop young talents.
Coca Cola country sales manager Robert Davies said that its time all local teams will recruit young talents from the tournament at no cost.
It will be a talent showcase. Opportunity to recruit talents is there. Coca Cola is willing to invest more money in this tournament which runs annually. It’s huge for us as a sport and it’s a remarkable asset
Kibuli ss are the defending champions of this tournament and will be in Hoima to defend it.
Over 60 schools from different regions will compete for this year’s title.
Qualifiers are expected to climax next week.
