The Uganda State Minister of sports, Charles Bakabulindi has lauded the Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA) towards the various roles played by the media especially the educative role.
Bakabulindi had paid a courtesy visit to the sports journalists’ monthly convention at the Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala on Monday.
The USPA patron appealed to the sports body to further engage in fronting more educative angles among various duties.
Be more educative. You also have to continue working as a body to overcome occupational hazards. Recruit more members to give the USPA body a more vibrant face
Bakabulindi also hinted on the sports budget allocation to the various sporting disciplines.

We are seeking for the independence of sports as a ministry. This is one way we shall lobby for an improved package of sports
The minister also highlighted about the safety of Nakivubo stadium.
There are misleading reports that Nakivubo stadium was sold. The public needs to be told the difference between leasing, selling. The stadium has a board that is managing the affairs of the stadium.
The minister has cast the blame of private investors grabbing land meant for the various sports play grounds to the local governments,
The ministry does not own the land titles, but they belong to the local councils and they make mistakes to give away large chucks of land to private investors
Bakabulindi donated two sets of sports jerseys to the USPA sports teams.
At the same monthly assembly, the sports journalists voted the Uganda women national cross country team that won bronze at the world cross country championships in China as the March USPA/Nile Special Sports best performing sports team for the month.
