An own goal in the 86th minute by Sadat Kyambadde was all KCC FC needed to sink Police in a Uganda Premier League game played at Kavumba Recreation Ground.

The hosts dominated the game with Peter Ssenyonjo coming close to breaking the deadlock in 17th minute but Yasin Mugabi was alert to save from a feeble shot.

Twenty minutes later, Umar Kasumba hit a cross bar with a fierce shot after being played through by Ssenyonjo.

After the break, Coach Angelo Lonyesi made a change introducing Rahmat Ssenfuka for skipper Godfrey Kateregga.

In the 49th minute, Kasumba had a glorious opportunity to give the Cops the lead but he shot over the bar with advancing goalie Yasin Mugabi beaten.

The league’s leading scorer still had another chance but shot direct at Mugabi from a free kick on the edge of the 18 area.

Two minutes later, Ben Ocen had his curler saved by Mugabi for corner which the visitors’ defended diligently.

KCC FC’s first shot on target came in the 80th minute when Owen Kasule tested goalie Douglas Kisembo from a free kick.

The Cops goalie parried the ball away for a corner but from the resultant corner, substitute Michael Birungi had a good ball saved by Kisembo again.

The decider of the game came with four minutes to full time when Kyambadde diverted a Joseph Ochaya low shot into his own net.

The win lifts the reigning champions to second on the log with 47 points; two behind log leaders Vipers who have played a game less.

Police FC sit 5th on the table with 34 points.
