Vipers SC 2-2 URA FC

Frank Kalanda came off the bench to score a late equalizer as URA FC held Vipers to a 2-2 draw in an entertaining game played at Buikwe.

The hosts were the better side in the first half with Joseph Mpande missing a number of clear cut chances but it was the visitors that took a lead thanks to a thunderous strike from Serbian Illic Millosh.

The Serbian import capitalized on a rebound off the wall after Feni Ali Moses failed to hit a free kick past the wall and hit the ball into the top corner past goalie Ismail Watenga.

After the break, Edward Golola made a few changes with Vincent Kayizzi replacing Julius Malingumu and the move paid dividends five minutes into the second half when the veteran winger forced a handball off Sam Sekitto and the referee had no option but award a penalty.

Mike Mutyaba opted to take it but failed to beat Sulait Luyima in URA goal and even missed a rebound before Farouk Miya headed home in a goal melee.

Twenty minutes later, a quick counter attack found Mpande who beat his marker on the left before laying a clean ball for Mutyaba who made no mistake but slot home with a low shot to send the home fans into frenzy.

With five minutes to go, Frank Kalanda who had come on for the tired Noah Ssemakula ensured spoils were shared when he struck a half volley past Watenga to make it 2-2.

The result is similar to the one in the reverse fixture at Lugazi where Vipers came from 2-0 down to snatch a point.

The result leaves Vipers on top of the log with 53 points; two points ahead of SC Villa who leapfrog KCC FC into second after another boardroom decision saw them
