KCC FC 0-2 Vipers

Two first half own goals were all Vipers SC needed to beat KCC FC to maintain leadership of the Uganda Premier League log.

In a game watched by a mammoth crowd at Phillip Omondi stadium, Lugogo, KCC FC started well with Owen Kasule forcing a good save from Vipers’ goalie inside two minutes.

The midfielder again had a feeble shot on target five minutes later after a good cutback pass from Simon Namwanja.

However, that was all the hosts threatened in the first half and despite the dominance in possession, they found themselves a goal down in the 28th minute when Joseph Ochaya connected into his own net a Farouk Miya cross from the right.

KCC FC pressed for an equalizer with Derrick Nsibambi coming close but it was the visitors that doubled the lead.

Allan Kyambadde won a corner down the left and the resultant corner saw Yasin Mugabi fumble with the ball into his own net.

After the break, KCC coach Abdallah Mubiru who had already made one substitution in the first half with William Wadri replacing Baker Lukooya made another instantly replacing Owen Kasule with Michael Birungi in search of goals.

And moments later, he was forced into introducing Herman Wasswa for the injured Derrick Nsibambi and the move nearly paid dividends as Wasswa nearly scored with his first touch but the goalie was alert to save.

Despite the pressure from the hosts, there was no change to the score line at full time whistle.

Vipers remain top of the log with 56 points while KCC stay 3rd with six less. The two sides have played same number of games.
