SC Villa 0-2 Vipers SC

Only SC Villa’s appeal against a ruling in URA FC’s favour in the Said Kyeyune case keeps the wait to give Vipers SC the 2014/15 league title after they beat SC Villa 2-0 at Nakivubo.

A goal in each half from Deus Bukenya and Farouk Miya was all Vipers needed to earn a four point gap over second placed SC Villa in second with only one fixture to go.

The 2010 champions started so well keeping possession well but they were limited to a few chances.

In the same manner, SC Villa also came close through Victor Emenayo and Erisha Ssekisambu but also failed to break a resilient visitors’ backline manned by Yusuf Mukisa

It wasn’t until the 23rd minute that the deadlock was broken when Bukenya’s first time shot hit the back of the net after a well weighed cutback pass from Mike Mutyaba.

Five minutes after the break, Farouk Miya nearly doubled the lead after the break but his shot from the edge of the area was easily saved by Sebwato.

Three minutes later, Sebwato had to be at his best to save a from a fierce Miya free kick after a foul on Mike Mutyaba down the left.

Miya’s time to make it 2-0 came in the 55th minute when he beat an offside trap to meet a brilliant cross from Bukenya.

In the 57th minute, SC Villa had a penalty claim turned down by referee Ali Sabira when Yusuf Mukisa seemed to have handed the ball in the forbidden area.

Seven minutes later, Miya nearly got his second and Vipers’ third but his half volley off another Bukenya cross failed to hit target.

With eleven minutes to go, substitute Abdul Karim Kasule forced a wonderful save from Alitho James in Vipers’ goal.

The visitors however held on till the final whistle despite SC Villa trying all means to get on the score sheet.

Victory implies Vipers SC gain an unassailable lead of four points with a game to go as they top the log on 66 while SC Villa are 62 points.

Vipers host Bul. FC in their last fixture while SC Villa will play away to Bright Stars.
