The stakes and odds have been evidently hiked. The most awaited fixture of the Kampala regional league will be played on Tuesday at Nakivubo Stadium.

Kyabando Hearts, winners of the scorpion group take on Wakiso United (the Cobra group champions).

Nakivubo Stadium will not be a play for the fainthearted as the team regional giants take on each other.

What is At Stake?

The major prize for the winner on Tuesday will be a slot to the FUFA Big league to represent Kampala region.

Match Referees:

For the significance of the fixture, the FUFA referees’ appointing board has entrusted the game with Ronald Kirangwa as the main man to officiate the game.

The first assistant shall be Samuel Kakembo, Hakim Mulindwa (second assistant), Edward Ssemwogerere (match assessor) with celebrated former FIFA referee, Ali Tomusnage the match commissioner.

Stegota’s Sheif Baate is the region’s top scorer with 21 goals.

Relegated Teams: The Kampala regional league has already witnessed four sides relegated to their respective District Football Associations (DFA).

Kasanga F.C, Red Stars F.C and Kibuli F.C will play in the Makindye DFA. Natete Market F.C, a former premier side in the elite league has also been relegated and will play in Rubaga division.

The promoted teams include, KL Namasuba F.C, who achieved the status after nipping Rubaga Division’s Happy Boys F.C from Kyengera.

Normal time had ended 2 all before Namasuba won 4-3.

From the play off finals, one of the two teams (Kyebando Hearts or Wakiso United) shall join Lira United (Northern region), Citizens (Western), Onduparaka (West Nile) and Buganda region’s Masavu F.C, the confirmed sides so far for next season’s FUFA big league.

The other regions, Kitara, Kampala and Eastern are yet to confirm their representatives.

Relegated:

From the Uganda Premier League, Entebbe F.C, Kira Young and Rwenshama will join perennial big league sides as Water F.C, Ndejje University, Baza Holdings for the three slots available for the 2016/17 Uganda Premier League.
