SC Villa Vs KCC FC – Kyamate Grounds, Ntungamo @ 3.30pm

KCC FC’s preparations for the Uganda Cup final against rivals SC Villa have been dealt a blow after striker Francis Olaki suffered an injury.

The ex-Soana FC and FK Tirana centre forward limped off training on Wednesday morning and is feared to have aggravated the same area that kept him out of action for most parts of the season having played just two league games for the club despite signing in January.

“It doesn’t look so good but we’ll see after the scan,” said team doctor Solomon Walugembe. “With less than two weeks to the game, am afraid he may not be fit in time,” he added.

Olaki limped off towards the end of the morning training session that was majorly a shooting practice for the attacking midfielders and forwards.

Speaking to Kawowo Sports after the session, Coach Abdallah Mubiru said he is impressed with the response of his players bar the injuries that are hitting his side.

“Am impressed with the response of players,” he said. “Everyone is focused on the big job ahead and am optimistic we can lift the trophy. The only setback is the injuries to the players,” he added.

Olaki joins Derrick Nsibambi and Paul Mucureezi (both missed training) on the injury list that also has long term absentee Savio Kabugo.

Good news though is the return of dependable defender Ronnie Kisekka who trained along with other players on Wednesday.

He is however not expected to feature in the finals as KCC aim to end an eleven year wait for the Uganda Cup.
