Zambia lady golfers retained the East and Central Africa regional challenge trophy this morning at the Lilongwe golf club in Malawi as Uganda failed to end it’s jinx at the regional all ladies team golf tournament.

Zambia finished the 3 day tournament with a total of 730 gross and won with 15 stroke lead with Uganda ending the tournament in second position with 745 gross while Kenya and the hosts ended with 772 and 841 respectively.

Uganda, finished runners-up with Flavia Namakula ending her round with 79 gross while Eva Magala ended with 83 gross and Irene Nakalembe ending with 89 gross.

Kenya maintained their third position with 772 gross while the hosts finished last with 841 gross in a tournament that had only four nations from the East and Central Africa region with two time winners Tanzania failing to take part due to lack of sponsorship and support from the Tanzanian government.

Zambia’s best players after the final round included Kaela Mulenga, who ended with a gross score of 80 while Devanshi Naik had a score of 82 gross while Tina Mawa ended with a gross score of 86 and Lornah Mwenda had 87 gross.
