South African football giants, Orlando Pirates are reportedly interested in signing URA FC’s attacking midfielder Yasser Mugerwa.

Mugerwa, 22, joined the taxmen from SC Victoria University in January and quickly shot to stardom after a wonder strike against the buccaneers in the preliminary round return leg of the CAF Confederations Cup at Namboole stadium where URA FC were ejected 4-3 on aggregate.

Orlando Pirates coach, Eric Tinkler was impressed with the performance of Mugerwa along with Saidi Kyeyune.

When contacted about the possible move to South Africa, Yasser Mugerwa said,

They are (URA FC) in talks with Orlando Pirates over transfer deal but nothing much been reached

URA FC remain adamant that their prized asset will only join Eric Tinkler’s side only if they meet a release clause in the contract and the player’s demands too.

URA FC’s secretary, Henry Mayeko says they have not received an official bid for the player but confirms the impression Mugerwa made.

We have not received an official bid for Mugerwa but they [Orlando Pirates] were impressed with the player.

Also reportedly chasing for Yasser Mugerwa’s signature is Kenyan club AFC Leopards as they have been keeping close tabs on the player status since January.

Yasser Mugerwa started his footballing career at Super Cubs academy before joining Nkumba University. In 2011 he joined SC Victoria and URA FC early this year.
