Lugogo Indoor Stadium
KIU Titans Vs Stanbic Warriors 8:30pm
Nkumba Lady Marines Vs KCCA Leopards 6:30pm
The Stanbic Warriors just cant find a formula to beat their matches.
The two time champions have already fallen at the hands of StarTimes Falcons, Tiger Head Power, City Oilers and most recently Ndejje Angels – Wednesday night to be exact.
Warriors return to the court tonight to face one of the two best teams in the league this season in KIU Titans. It get no tougher for the side that acquired the services of another guard, Josh Johnson to add to the six already on the team.
Going into the game, Warriors have a just a pair of post threats going against one of the best front courts in the league both defensively and offensively. In fact, only the tallest player in the league, Sam Gombya may be the real threat as Joshua Etalu has struggled at the basket.
Gad Eteu, the Warriors’ coach bemoaned the attitude of his players and Gombya’s limited touches on the ball at the post in the 19 points loss to Ndejje two days ago and a similar attitude will get his team swamped again.
Etalu says they can play the same way they did against Ndejje.
“Man, today every body has been off” Etalu said after the game against Ndejje. “That (KIU) is different. We just can’t do this again. We cant play the same way” he added.
Meanwhile, KIU Titans come into the game off a big win last Friday. The Titan (7-1) beat Power and will be be hoping to continue with a similar feat.
The university side boasts of the best center the country has produced in Henry Malinga, the most decorated player in the league, Norman Blick and arguably the best point guard in the league at the moment, Chris Omanye. The trio along with the supporting cast will put Warriors in a tricky position.
The defensively stable KIU will limit Warriors offense that was suffocated by Ndejje Zone defense in the presence of KIU’s coach, Hamza Nyambogo.
In the women’s division, defending champions KCCA Lepards will play Nkumba Lady Marines.
