The flashy smile off the teary face of footballer Herman Wasswa as he bid farewell to friends and family at the Entebbe International Airport departure lounge on Thursday night obviously harboured a deep lying message there in.

A visibly delighted Wasswa, on course to complete one of his prime dream – playing professional football flew to the Kenyan capital, Nairobi.

The main purpose of travel is to authenticate the documentation confirming his long awaited transfer to Kenyan premier league outfit – Sofapaka Football Club.

This is a dream come true but the glory goes back to God. I thank everyone who has been helpful in my life to this success

The soft spoken forward, who finished with 8 goals in the 2014/15 Uganda Premier League season attested to Kawowo Sports.

Wasswa was accompanied by his personal manager, agent cum representative, Geofrey Ssolo Kayemba as they boarded Kenya Airlines on flight KQ 417 to Nairobi for the final seal of the deal with club president, Elly Kalekwa.

Kalekwa had been in Kampala for the last two weeks for the initial negotiations with the player’s agent that witnessed Sofapaka table $ 20,000.

The chairman (Kalekwa) left when he had paid a commitment fee. He then sent us the travel tickets so that we finish the signing exercise on Friday. My client (Herman Wasswa) will surely get a great deal

Kayemba said.

Wasswa, a former Masaka Local Council, SC Villa and Kampala City Council player is reportedly said to have agreed a $ 22,000 sign on fee with Sofapaka with a 2 year renewable contract with a monthly remuneration of U.shs 3M minus match allowances and winning bonuses.

The sharp goal scorer joins a long list of Ugandans plying their professional with several Kenyan sides.

On Thursday, Western Stiima confirmed the capture of two Uganda left footed players, Shafik Bachu Batambuze and Ivan Ssekazza from Sofapaka and Express F.C respectively.

At Sofapaka, he joins former Uganda Cranes assistant coach, Sam Timbe, who is the club head tactician.
