Two Uganda Table Tennis players, Halima Nambozo of Mbale Progressive School and Mbogo College’s Gilton Chelibe  have vowed to defend their two titles in the individual category and team events when the forth coming East Africa senior secondary schools’ games start this weekend in Guye City, south of Rwanda.

Nambozo, a Senior 3 student and Gilton Chelibe, Senior 6 won a gold medal each in singles’ category and both helped their schools win a trophy in last year team events tie held in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Despite the challenging academic time table, Nambozo vowed;

The training is not all that good enough due to exams but am extremely set to battle and defend my title as now I have started on individual, team training and trip preparation.

 Meanwhile Gilton too re-assured his readiness to defend the title he won last year.

The National Table Tennis coach, Jude Mutete believes Nambozo is capable of winning another title following her excellent performance in the recent month of July during the Mbale table tennis championship.

She won in the under 19 women singles after beating Ritah Nankumitsa.

Four Ugandan Table Tennis school teams are set and depart on Thursday morning by road to Rwanda for the event that kicks off this weekend Saturdays 15th August  201.

The schools are; Mbale Progressive School (girls and boys), Kakungulu Memorial School (boys), Mbogo College (boys and girls) teams.

Besides table tennis, Uganda will enter a strong field of teams in Football, Netball, Athletics, Rugby, Hockey, Badminton and Chess.

David Isabirye is a senior staff writer for Kawowo Sports where he covers most of the major events.
