AFCON 2017 Group D Qualifier:

  • Saturday, 5th September 2015: Comoros Vs Uganda (Mitsamiouli Stadium – 3:00 pm)

The Uganda Cranes team of 18 players set to face Comoros in the AFCON 2017 Qualifiers has been released by the head coach, Milutin Sredojevic.

There are no major surprise names on the team that departs Thursday morning aboard Kenyan Airlines.

Thróttur Reykjavík F.C midfielder, Tonny Mawejje returns to the national team set up after close to 7 months without featuring for the Cranes.

Mawejje joins two other experienced old guards on the team, Geofrey Massa and goalie Denis Onyango.

Young defender, Murushid Jjuuko, who turns out for Tanzanian giants, Simba makes a come back to the team since traveling on the team’s away trip to Togo.

On form Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) creative midfielder Muzamiru Mutyaba is named on the traveling team.

Mutyaba’s teammate at KCCA F.C, left winger Joseph Ochaya returns to the team after close to 2 years on the sidelines

The team has two goal keepers, six defenders, seven midfielders and three strikers.

Left Behind:

Striker John Ssemazzi, who replaced URA F.C forward Robert Sentongo in the squad has been  left behind.

Others are; Kizironi Kizito, Ismail Watenga, Denis Okot and Shafik Bakaki.

Micho has hinted on breaking Uganda’s away jinx on the island nations.

We want to write a new chapter of history. We target burying the win-less run on the island nations. Coming with 3 points from Comoros will put us on six as we look forward the next round of qualifiers against Burkina Faso in March 2016
