Former World Champion Dorcus Inzikuru has revealed that she will no longer run 3,000m steeplechase but marathon following a long spell of minute progress at the national level.

Inzikuru says she is switching to marathon following several injuries that blighted her return since winning Gold in the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne and 2005 World Athletics Final in Helsinki.

The 33 year old told Xinhua that she has held consultations with her coaches who have advised her to change to marathon.

The athlete whose target is qualifying for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio, added that she is ready to mix politics and sport after picking nomination forms with a dream to represent the youth of Northern Uganda in the country’s legislative assembly a week ago.
