Coach Allan Musoke has confirmed the Uganda national Women’s Rugby Sevens team that will compete in the African Olympics qualifiers.

The coach revealed the squad that will travel a couple of weeks back at the Makerere University Graveyard pitch ahead of the showpiece that will get underway at the Banard Stadium, Kempton Park in Johannesburg from 26th – 27th September.

Brenda Kayiyi and Charlotte Mudoola make the side from the Black Panthers as well as debutants Charity Atimango, Grace Auma and Samiya Ayikoru from Thunderbirds.

Rachel Kakaire is not part of the squad despite having spearheaded the 15’s side in the Elgon Cup that they unfortunately lost to the Kenya Lionesses 06-07 (Agg:11-12) at Legends Rugby Grounds.

On Saturday the team had a special training at Sports Beach in Entebbe funded by Dr Leonard Were and Regina Lunyolo. The team will travel on Thursday, 24th September before joining the fray against South Africa, Zimbabwe, Namibia and Zambia in Pool A of the competition in South Africa.

Uganda needs to finish top by winning the tournament to earn a spot for the 2016 Rio Olympics Games in Brazil.
