City Oilers vs. KIU Titans – YMCA, 8:30pm

KIU Titans’ title credentials will once again be put under scrutiny as they face back-to-back champions City Oilers on Friday night at YMCA.

The Titans (14-3) ran through their first five games of the 2015 National Basketball League season. Our Saviour, Sharing, Charging Rhinos, Bushcourt and Diamonds had a feel of the wrath of the new look Kansanga based side.

However, none of these sides gave the Titans a real test. They came and went easy for the side that boasts two legendary players in the country.

Then came the City Oilers and being the two best teams (on paper) in the country, a huge game was expected and so it was. It may not have been an offensively heavy game, but it lived up to most fans’ expectations – at least for the four quarters.

City Oilers eventually ran away with a 10 points (75-65) win after overtime. The Oilers scored 19 points in overtime and KIU’s coach, Hamza Nyambogo took it as a lesson.

“For us it’s a learning lesson because all through the game we were not being efficient with the ball and we did not make the right decisions” he said back then.

Nyambogo and the KIU Titans will have a second go at the City Oilers before the post season before the post season and show how much they learnt from the first round loss to the defending champions.

KIU come into the game on the back of two wins against relegated sides Diamonds and Bushcourt having dropped back-to-back games to Warriors and UCU Canons prior to the two wins.

Meanwhile Oilers (15-2) come into the game on the back of five successive wins since losing to Our Saviour.
