Two and half months ago, Uganda’s most successful football club SC Villa unveiled Antonio Flores as coach and Francisco Martinez as his assistant.
Reports from Villa Park indicate that Martinez has thrown in the towel and will soon depart for his native Spain in the coming days.
The reason for Martinez’s quitting are not yet clear, but sources close to the club have put it down to Villa failing to meet their part of the bargain when it came to remunerations.
Efforts to reach Villa’s publicist Ivan Kakembo were fruitless, we also failed to reach the side’s technical wing of Frank ‘Video’ Anyau and Philip Obwiny. But as always Kawowo Sports will keep you posted
Sources close to the club have come out and revealed that Martinez’s departure will expose Flores’s frail coaching tactics since it’s the former who has been in charge of training and entire game approach of the team.
The development comes at a time when Villa are to take on rivals and league holders Vipers in their next league outing on October 2 at Nakivubo.
Villa lies eighth on the 16 team log with eight points, 2 wins and 2 draws with one defeat from five outings.
