5th University Football League: Quarter-finals

  • Wednesday, 14th October 2015: UCU Vs Uganda Martyrs’ University (Agg: 0-2)
  • Thursday, 15th October 2015: MUBS Vs Kyambogo (Agg: 2-1)

Two parallel footballing giants, Kyambogo and MUBS face off in the return leg of the University Football League quarter finals at Luzira stadium on Thursday.

This will be the fourth and last quarter final duel. With Ndejje and Makerere already qualified, the third side will be determined on Wednesday when UMU travel to UCU for the third quarter final.

The match will be played at Luzira stadium, like the first leg for fear of violence that has always marred the encounters of the two institutions.

Coming into the second leg, MUBS carries a 2-1 goal advantage, but the match is far from finished.

Moses Kifumba and Davis Kasujja scored for MUBS in the first leg. Sharif Ssejjemba’s consolation barely five minutes to the game collapse meant that there is still life and a lot to play for come the return leg.

MUBS’ coach Charles Ayiekho, also head tactician at Soana F.C in the Uganda Premier League has the hope of his team’s progress.

We shall play a cautious game. We need to progress and we target the title defence

Last week, Ndejje University edged Nkumba University 3-2  on aggregate following a one-all draw last Wednesday at the Nkumba campus. The first leg had ended 2-1 in favour of Ndejje at their Luwero lull play ground.

Makerere University white-washed Kampala International University (KIU) 7-1 on aggregate. The Ivory Tower institution comfortably won either legs – triumphing 2-1 away and 5-0 in the subsequent home tie played at Luzira Stadium (due to chaos at Makerere that week).

The first leg of the semi-finals shall be played next Wednesday and Thursday at venues yet to be confirmed.
