Following the successful visit of three Barcelona legends to Uganda, another former club player, Edgar ‘Pit-bull’ Davids is set to arrive in the country on Monday evening.

Rayco Garcia, Patrick Kluviert and Luis Garcia last month visited the country, christened the ‘Pearl of Africa’ for its awesome beauty, purposely to create an impact on the soccer of Uganda and help establish a sound soccer academy.

All the legends are expected to come back and feature for the FC Barcelona legends team in the exhibition match against their  Uganda Cranes counterparts.

The chief brain behind Edgar’s visit is Rayco Garcia through the RG (Rayco Garcia) Foundation said that Edgar is excited about traveling to Uganda.

Garcia, who was recently in China for the La Liga BBVA International Project Expansion noted;

After learning what Luis Garcia and Patrick Kluivert came for in Uganda , Edgar picked interest in becoming a component of the project.

Garcia is a famous Barcelona trainee and the Leeds United footballer who pardoned his carrier as a result of injury.

He intends to use the proceeds generated from the match between Barcelona Legends-Uganda Cranes to set up a complete football academy of contemporary standards in Uganda.

Recently, there was fund raising dinner last month whose main guest was Luis Garcia .

The fundraising drive held at Kampala Sheraton Hotel fetched Ugx 27.6m.

During the historic match that is set to take place in December, a number of Barcelona stars will feature Davids himself, Garcia, Kluivert, Deco, Gaizaka Mendieta and Carlos Puyol while Johan Cruyff a legendary Dutchman will coach the team.

Cruyff is among the trustees of the RG Foundation along with Garcia, Kluivert and Christian Karembeu – the 1998 World Cup winner.

It is a magical moment to imagine all these historicals taking a Uganda safari to play with the Uganda Cranes and visit a range of attractions around the country.

Already, a wide range of people and organizations including President Museveni, the Uganda Tourism Board, Nile Breweries and Insurance Company of East Africa have been contacted to help in the noble cause.
