Uganda Baby Cricket Cranes failed to qualify for the U19 World Cup Championship to be held in Bangladesh next year after finishing fourth in the qualifiers played in Malaysia.

The Cranes lost to USA in the third place playoff by 5 wickets on Thursday to remain at two points on the log out of five matches played. It was their fourth loss of the competition after faltering against USA in their opener, Nepal and Ireland.

Frank Akankwasa scored the highest number of runs for Uganda, 25 runs off 66 balls. Zephania Arinaitwe followed the ranks with 23 runs off 20, whose partnership with Abdalah Lubega yielded 39 runs all together.

America’s target was 131 runs from 50 overs and the side chased well landing softly with skipper and player of the match Alexander Shoff making a top performance of 28 off 52 deliveries not out.

Nepal advanced to the  U19 World Cup Championship thanks to their 3 wickets win in the final against Ireland. Nepal chased 184 runs with an extra they grabbed to earn a memorable victory.
